Details: Rochester is an entrepreneurship hub and MARL is working to help expose more Silicon Valley VCs to the region. Having the program at Innovation Square in the heart of the city engages students, local businesses, downtown residents and government leaders to come together to hear presentations for the dynamic existing startup ecosystem.

Nilesh is a fund principal and venture capital investor for the past 7 years investing in the US, India & Israel across the hi-tech sectors in industry verticals such as enterprise software & B2B SaaS, CyberSecurity, Healthcare, Semiconductors, EVs, FinTech and others. With $70M under management, he’s invested in 45+ companies with multiple exits. His portfolio companies include six $1B+ companies, have raised nearly ~$2.6B in capital and created more than $26B in enterprise value over the years. Nilesh has also advised sovereign funds, impact funds and venture capital funds in Europe and India.
Olivia Goldstein is the COO of Upstate Venture Connect. She’s an exited tech founder with 10 years of experience working in and with B2B software companies. Early in her career, Olivia advised international tech companies on U.S. market entry strategies. This exposure to tech brought her to India where she spent time working for a B2B software startup based in Bangalore overseeing their international product growth. While there, she co-founded RepHike, a marketing software for brands to find and work with influencers & brand ambassadors, and ultimately led it through to its acquisition by a Syracuse group in 2019. In addition to her work at UVC, Olivia is the Vice President at StartFast Ventures, a VC fund investing in B2B SaaS companies. Olivia holds a B.A. in Economics from University of Pittsburgh and a M.A. in International Relations from the Institute of World Politics.

Ain Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation -The Center for Entrepreneurship was launched by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation grant awarded to the University of Rochester in 2006. It was renamed the Ain Center for Entrepreneurship in 2015 in recognition of Mark S. Ain ’67S (MBA) and his wife Carolyn Ain for their visionary leadership and support of entrepreneurial students University-wide.

RIT Venture Creations Incubator (VCI-) helps Rochester Institute of Technology startups commercialize their products and prepare for outside risk capital. MARL Startup Studio -MARL Startup Studio’s mission is building a bridge between the Silicon Valley and Rochester New York to increase economic inclusion and deal flow. MARL Think_Entrepreneurship program examines how entrepreneurship translates new ideas or processes into practical use in the form of products, markets or services, concepts or systems. The practice of entrepreneurship requires understanding different business paradigms, the ability to frame a value proposition, self knowledge, collaboration and strong communication skills.
