The Employee Retention Credit (ERC) can be a very beneficial tax credit for employers whose businesses suffered gross receipts declines or were suspended by government orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21. Unfortunately, many promoters and marketers have taken advantage of this opportunity to convince businesses to claim the ERC, even though they may not be eligible.
